'I have become far more confident in the gym'

Thinking back, what was the problem you needed to solve when you contacted Craig?

I wanted to be stronger and more active.

I spend a lot of time sitting at a desk for my work and leisure; I had experienced back pain and lived a very sedentary lifestyle.

This, coupled with knowing that strength training is a good thing to do pre-menopause, meant that I knew I needed to up my game and commit to the gym.

With some health issues to work around, I knew I needed a PT to guide me.

 

What do you feel you’ve achieved during your time working with Craig?

I have become far more confident in the gym.

I understand more about exericise and strength training - it is important for me to know the WHY as well as the HOW.

I am a lot stronger. 

 

What’s different in your life today compared to before you started working with Craig?

Craig has helped me to feel comfortable in the gym which has never been the case for me previously.

When life doesn't go according to plan, I am able (and happy to) get back into a routine which now includes going to the gym.

This change in attitude is key to me making progress and committing to a healthier lifestyle.

 

If you had to pick one thing, what would be your highlight so far? Which thing are you most pleased about?

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy upper body strength training.

I've bench pressed 16 kg dumbells as a PB, which is a weight I never would have thought of attempting when I first entered the gym!

Now my goal is to do that regularly and keep improving.

 

How has Craig helped you solve your problem? What do you particularly like about his approach and delivery?

Craig is patient and is always willing to explain why he has made certian decisions in designing my workouts.

I am always interesting in why things are the way they are, so I really appreciate him taking the time to explain this to me.

I have a skin condition which means I need to avoid intense cardio and Craig has been happy to adapt my workouts to work around this.

 

What are your health and fitness goals from this point onwards? Are they any different to before you started working with Craig?

My overall goal is still to keep getting stronger, lifting heavier weights and working towards an unassisted pull up!

I am not particularly motivated by aesthetic goals but going forward I would like to pay more attention to my nutirition and reducing body fat to stay within a healthy range.

Craig has provided advice and guidance for me in this area and I look forward to not eating kale and seeing what we can achieve together!

 

If someone was to ask you your thoughts about working with Craig, what would you say?

Working with Craig has helped me to feel like I deserve to take up space in the gym.

I no longer shy away from a machine if I don't know how to use it - I'll figure it out or ask for help.

More than just improving my physical health, Craig has also improved my confidence and overall wellbeing.

Craig is patient, kind and personable.

He welcomes feedback and is always willing to switch up his approach.
