Jenny's Journey

‘I really like that I’m able to go at my pace. Craig gets the balance right between 'push' and 'support'.’

Thinking back, what was the problem you needed to solve when you contacted Craig?

My hectic work schedule has me travelling up and down the country for meetings, staying away frequently and getting home late after very long days.

Finding the time and energy to go to the gym and get fit around my job is really difficult for me.

What do you feel you’ve achieved during your time working with Craig?

I try as much as possible to pre-plan my week so I have an idea of when I can fit a training session in.

If I miss one, for example, on a Wednesday night, because I'm not home until after 9, I arrange to get up and go the next morning instead.

I use weekends as catch up days (or extra bonus days), depending on how busy my week has been.

What’s different in your life today compared to before you started working with Craig?

Going to the gym just feels like part of my life now.

Making time to go to the gym and exercise is possible, even on cold dark winter nights!

If you had to pick one thing, what would be your highlight so far? Which thing are you most pleased about?

Getting into a routine is really tricky when I don't know what I'm doing from one day to the next.

But with Craig's encouragement and support, he’s helped me get into the habit of going to the gym. I now manage 2 or 3 sessions most weeks.

How has Craig helped you solve your problem? What do you particularly like about his approach and delivery?

I’ve had PT sessions before, but Craig does PT differently.

I really like that I’m able to go at my pace. Craig gets the balance right between 'push' and 'support'. Not once have I left a session feeling like I could have worked harder, or not worked hard enough.

Caring in nature, the first thing Craig taught me was to stop beating myself up and ensure that when I’m at the gym I make my workout count.

He’s understanding of my situation and offers me flexibility when I have meetings away and fits PT sessions around my schedule.

He also gave me a list of 'do anywhere' exercises so that if I’m working away, I can still workout.

What are your health and fitness goals from this point onwards? Are they any different to before you started working with Craig?

I feel better than I have for a long time.

I first started seeing Craig as I wanted to get fit for my wedding (in June 2017), but now I want to stay fit for me. Craig helps me keep focused and, without him, I don't think I would’ve had the discipline to find this time for myself.

The physical and emotional benefits of regular exercise are totally noticeable.

I naturally sleep better, look better and feel better. Win!

If someone was to ask you your thoughts about working with Craig, what would you say?

He’s flexible and understanding.

Craig's flexibility and ethos of 'we all have a life outside of the gym' means I’m able to fit exercise into my hectic schedule.

He made me realise that if I can only go to the gym once a week, that's still better than not going at all! It's about keeping momentum on weeks I'm working away so that I don't 'give up’, and then making the most of weeks when I’m home-based by getting extra sessions in.

Craig has always tried his best to accommodate me and understands that life gets in the way, so we have to work around it.

I found him very professional from the outset, treating me as an individual and understanding my personal goals.
